Letters to the World (3)

To whom it may concern:
War is coming. Do you know how it feels like to live your life as if every second you could be attacked, or killed, or - even worse - summoned for a battle? Everything is about going to an open field, shooting at innocent people who shoot at you, an innocent yourself, and all this for what? Only for the hidden, sleazy interests of some people who pretend to run the world, but not for the benefit of the bigger part of humanity.
The sad thing is, dear reader, that war itself is just a proof of how low humanity can fall. The lack of understanding, the frustrations caused by the lack of communication and - maybe above all - the selfishness and the thirst for power are the starters of a war, just like it happened in Ukraine.
I am a citizen of Romania, a country that shares borders with Ukraine, and I feel threatened every day, because a war can start any second. Ukrainians start mutinies and go out on the streets, aware of the fact that they might die for that, but they do it anyway. It is not just an act, it represents a symbol. Just like this letter. A symbol to address to the ones in charge: 'we are not ignorant, we see what is going on and we want to stop it!'.
We are aware, of course, that we value nothing alone, because a man who stands alone finds himself ignored, mocked or even shut down. But we start a manifest, so that people who share the same opinions with us might find us, might find the courage inside themselves to join and to speak out loud for their own, their family, their country or their planet.
Earth is our only home so far. By ignoring incidents like the ones from Ukraine we only contribute to its destruction. And without Earth, we can no longer exist either. So help us stop the war from Ukraine, help us install - little by little - peace. When we become a group they will hear us and we won't have to live in fear anymore.
With hope,
A concerned citizen, Mihaela
