Letters to the World (2)

To whom it may concern,

War is dirt, war is sadness, war is illness, war is discord of families, war is being far away from the ones you love. This is what people directly involved in wars feel, and what I feel, too, about this concept. And I am still asking myself: “Why are the soldiers just like puppets manipulated by puppet masters? Why aren’t the ‘masters’ playing the real game on the battlefield instead, so they could be able to feel the reality?”

War is not a normal thing to happen now, and we all are aware of this fact. We can, as the population of this planet, to behave in a civilized manner and find another way, I’m sure of that. We have to think of the ones that were, are and will eventually be involved in a war, as well as of collateral victims. What traumatisms they go through and if it is really worth it.

Certainly, the conflict ongoing in Ukraine should not deviate into a war because this would bring prejudices to many countries which are situated near Ukraine and indeed to my country, Romania. We are not prepared for a war, and I refer here to the young population of this country. We want to live normal lives, to go to university and study, not to wake up in the middle of a foolish conflict.

I hope that leaders will realize the risks and disadvantages of war itself, and will try to find other ways of sorting things between the countries they rule, for the good of us, the rest of the population.

A concerned and hopeful citizen,
Petra Lia Sirbu
